You, as a member of Delta Theta of Beta Theta Pi, are a member of our Beta Theta House Corporation.
Our Beta Theta House Corporation was formed so we could purchase the ATO 1902 fraternity house at 960 University Blvd in February, 1964. Its first President was Dr. Burton R. Morley, W.Va. ’22. The house was purchased through this corporation. The corporation was established as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Alabama. On the three member board was Greg Cusimano #1 and Bert Parsons #8. The house was purchased from the ATO’s. The land was leased from the University of Alabama. The balance sheet as of May 31, 1964 showed assets of $4,115.17 and liabilities of $99.97. A total net worth of $4,215.20. As of May 31, 1964 we showed a net profit from operations of $3,727.57. Arrears owed by members represented .8% of income. We had a escrow account for ATO of $1,431.02. Robert L. King stated that our financial condition was “stable.”
The chapter took possession of our house from the Alpha Tau Omega, Beta Delta chapter, on April 1, 1964. The total price of the house was $19,000. This was the second house we occupied and the first that we purchased. See our petition to Beta Theta Pi for more details on what our Beta Theta fraternity did to achieve our charter. Mark Boardman, President, of our house corporation provides positive leadership for our corporation. Mark was involved with the negotiations and signing of the official contract between the house corporation and the University Of Alabama for our new house; $3,500,000. Others members involved in the new house are Bill Owen, Dan Copeland, Roy Swindle, Ken Johnson, Brant Sanders, Andrew Brock, and Jim McGriff
Your house corporation is involved with the young Beta’s of our chapter.
The house corporation needs your support. Financially, there is a tax exempt fund for all contributions you make to the chapter through the University of Alabama to Delta Theta. Personally, there are many opportunities for you to support the chapter management, your involvement is key to the future of young Delta Theta Beta’s .
